Uterine fibroids are non cancerous tumors that grow inside or either outside of the uterus. They are mostly not dangerous for the woman but they can cause miscarriages and infertilities for the woman. There are also different kinds of uterine fibroids and they are classified with how they are located inside or outside the uterus. There are also reports that it can grow bigger and if they grow that big, it is an immediate thing to surgically remove those from your uterus or it will be dangerous for your body already.
These are the types of fibroids:
- Subserosal fibroids are developed in the outer parts of the uterus and continue to grow outward. These types don’t actually affect the woman’s period or menstrual flow as some call it or cause more menstrual bleeding than the usual but it can cause pain to the other parts of the body near it due to their size and the added pressure that it pricks on the other organs near it. This does not make your menstrual bleeding abnormal but instead is causes you pelvic pain and pressure around it. It also depends if it has grown already largely and the location of it and with that it can accompany other symptoms than just pain and pressure.
- Intramural fibroids are the most common fibroids a woman could have and they develop in the uterine wall and expand within it. When this expands, it tends to make the uterus inside you feel larger than usual and it can be commonly be mistaken for a pregnancy or weight gain which is a bit troublesome. This can also cause the “bulk symptoms”. This fibroid could cause a lot of menstrual bleeding which in turn can cause prolonged menstrual cycles and clotting, pelvic pain due to the pressure it adds when it is growing larger within the walls and it places pressure around the surrounding organs it touches and the frequent urination.
- The submucosal fibroids are the least common of the fibroid tumor types. These are the most dangerous because it grows just under the lining of the uterine cavity. If it grows largely enough, it can block the fallopian tubes which can cause great complications to birth, fertility and other things that might harm your body if left longer. This type of fibroid might not produce symptoms at all and you might just notice at all or it can be severely painful and a lot of symptoms would go with it. The symptoms include more menstrual bleeding and longer menstruation periods. These symptoms can also cause clots and frequent soiling which can greatly take a toll in your everyday life. In other words, it will be a great bother in your life. If not treated quickly, it can cause a lot of problems for your body which are anemia, feeling tired always and frequently going to the doctor or even the hospital for blood transfusions.
It is important to know the types of uterine fibroids in your body so that you can know if you can avoid a surgery or you have to do it immediately to take away the problem or even save your life.
